Communication is important, understanding others is more so. As a leader, how well do you understand the people you work with?

These 3 elements can vastly alter the way people perceive you:

1. Being genuinely curious. Find out about the people you work with and about how people see you.
2. Say sorry when you make a mistake. Be honest, clean it up and do something to change it in the future.
3. Have tough conversations sooner rather than later. Don’t let conflict fester, it just gets harder to deal with.

Never underestimate the impact you can have on others, both positive and negative.
